Camping hints and tips

Before the weekend

Book your tickets in advance – Confirm your plans early and save money on the gate prices. Camping can be booked for each show online, or by calling 01507 529529.

Stock up – We have an on-site shop at both the spring and summer events for supplies and essentials, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to take a trip to the supermarket and get a few items in. Don’t forget to get some cash for the bar, too!

Check your vehicle – You don’t want to get on the road and find you have a problem now do you? Give your vehicle the once over and make all the usual checks before setting off. If you’re towing, then make sure your hitch is secure.

Plan your route – Both Newark and Kent Showgrounds are easy enough to find, but it always helps to have your route in your mind. Under each event section we’ve provided directions to the respective venues, but it might also be worth bringing along your sat nav, and be sure to check the traffic and weather reports.

Don’t forget the essentials – Medication, toiletries, toothbrushes… make yourself a list of any particular personal items you might need for the weekend and then check it all off as you pack it.

Get packed – You don’t want to be messing around with this when you could be on the road. Get everything you need together and ready to go so you can make the most of the busy show weekend!

When you arrive

Getting to the venue – Once close to either showground you will see yellow ‘Campers’ Entrance’ signs… so follow them. If you’ve already received your camping pack then make sure you are wearing your wristband (and keep them on for the whole weekend) or pick up your pack from the gate. Event staff will then escort you to your camping pitch or club area.

Pitch up – Take your time and get everything in place for the weekend. Pick out a landmark or identifiable feature so you don’t forget where you are… the bar will be open for evening entertainment, so this happens more often than you’d think!

Explore the site – Find the nearest facilities, familiarise yourself with the show guide and head over to see where the bars and restaurants are located.

Evening entertainment – It is Friday after all, so that means we’ll have our first night of superb acts sponsored by Park Resorts. You’ll need to be wearing your wristband to gain entry (that’s why we said to keep it on for the weekend) and the venues can get busy, so make sure you get there in plenty of time.

At the show

Write a shopping list – It’s always fun to browse the traders and dealers, and maybe that’s your preferred approach, but with so much to squeeze in to two days, we advise making a list of the specific items you want. You’ll probably still end up buying more than intended (don’t we always) but this way you won’t forget to go away with what you came for.

Visit the dealers – You should set some time aside for this, for sure. Many of the UK’s leading motorhome, caravan and camper van dealers attend our events, and they’ll often have new models to showcase.

Other attractions – There is a variety of activities taking place at each event aside from the range of trade stands and service specialists in attendance. Make sure you check out everything that’s going on here.

See the sights – At our events we run bus services so visitors can explore the local area. We also look to arrange discounted entry or group admission to museums, galleries, etc. and we’ll advertise each show’s arrangements on the respective page.

Evening entertainment – Once the main show has closed on Saturday, attention turns back to the evening entertainment, and another line-up of fantastic performers ready to get the party started.

Before you leave

Book your camping package for next time – Our event team will be on-hand to assist with any questions or queries you may have, included getting your camping pitch confirmed for your next visit to the UK Motorhome & Caravan Shows.

Say goodbye – We’re sure you’ll bid a fond farewell to your fellow campers, but don’t forget to say goodbye to the event team too. We’re always looking to develop and improve the shows and we’d love to get your feedback on the weekend.
